- INTRODUCTION
- 1
- ------------
-
-
- Welcome to the NEW graphical world of ONLINE SWAP MEET! As you
- may have guessed, this program is used as an ONLINE FOR SALE
- PROGRAM. Probably on of the best ones out there! Anyway, the
- graphics and user friendly environment let your BBS users sell,
- buy, write messages, edit, delete, and update their items ONLINE!
- Don't worry about making up a conference anymore, this little beauty
- has its own message base. Whenever a caller uses the door, the
- message base is checked for any replies to their items entered!
- WELL, thats all I'm going to tell you here - GIVE IT A TRY!
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- INSTALLATION (SINGLE-LINE)
- 2
- --------------------------
-
-
- STEP 1 -=> UNZIP OSM1_1.ZIP into a directory of its own, usually
- somewhere inside your BBS SOFTWARES directory.
-
- STEP 2 -=> Make sure your in ONLINE SWAP MEETS OWN DIRECTORY and Type
- OSMCFG and hit <ENTER>! This is the configurations
- program. It will create the necessary files for OSM to
- operate properly. It will then search for the configuration
- file and if its not found it will prompt you to make one or
- not. Type "Y"! Then follow the directions VERY VERY carefully.
- If you don't understand the question, read the examples given
- in the window!
-
- STEP 3 -=> CREATE a BATCH file that has the following lines or whatever
- is necessary for your particular SETUP:
-
- @ECHO OFF {TURN ECHO OFF}
- CD C:\WC30\DOORS\OSM {CHANGE TO THE OSM DIRECTORY}
- OSM.EXE OSM.CFG {START THE PROGRAM}
- OSMBULL.EXE {THIS IS USED TO CREATE YOUR BULLETINS}
- CD C:\WC30 {CHANGE BACK TO YOUR BBS DIRECTORY}
-
- PLEASE SEE THE EXAMPLE.BAT INCLUDED!
-
- STEP 4 -=> SETUP your BBS SOFTWARE to call the BATCH file you created!
-
-
- { YOU'RE ALL DONE! }
-
-
- INSTALLATION (MULTI-LINE)
- -------------------------
-
- I am currently working on and studying the MULTI-LINE process!
- As of right now, this program is not setup for multi-line use!
- SORRY
-
- For now, you must copy your door data file to the directory where
- the ONLINE SWAP MEET files are located before executing OSM.EXE.
- Then just delete it afterwards!
-
- EXAMPLE:
-
- @ECHO OFF
- CD C:\OSM
- COPY C:\WC30\WCWORK\NODE1\DOOR.SYS C:\OSM
- OSM.EXE OSM.CFG
- DEL C:\OSM\DOOR.SYS
- OSMBULL.EXE
- CD C:\WC30
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- RUNNING ONLINE SWAP MEET!
- 3
- -------------------------
-
- To RUN ONLINE SWAP MEET, entering a command similar to the following
- in a batch file called by your BBS SOFTWARE will start the program:
-
- OSM OSM.CFG
-
- The OSM.CFG is created by running OSMCFG.EXE in the directory where
- the ONLINE SWAP MEET FILES are located.
-
- NOTE - THE OSM.CFG MUST BE IN THE DIRECTORY WITH ALL THE OTHER OSM FILES!
-
- OSMCFG.EXE Creates a configuration file called OSM.CFG and it
- is an ASCII text file with the following format:
-
- Line 1: Door data file type.
- Line 2: Path to the door data file(s).
- Line 3: BBS name.
- Line 4: Sysop's name.
- Line 5: Locked baud rate.
- Line 6: The FULL PATH AND FILENAME to your COLOR BULLETIN!
- Line 7: The FULL PATH AND FILENAME to your BLACK AND WHITE BULLETIN!
- Line 8: Your registration number!
-
- As illustrated above, OSM'S data file type is specified in line 1
- and can be PCB for PCBoard, GAP for GAP (DOOR.SYS), SF for Spitfire,
- RBBS for RBBS, WC for WildCat!, TRIBBS for TriBBS, or WWIV for WWIV.
- Line 2 MUST be in the format C:\WC30\WCWORK\NODE1\ ... PLEASE
- NOTE THE \ ON THE END! VERY IMPORTANT!
- The locked baud rate is specified in line 5. If the you don't
- lock your serial port, you must specify 0 for the locked baud rate.
- Line 6 and 7 must contain a 0 if you don't want the bulletins created!
-
- The following is a sample door configuration file that I use for WC!:
-
- GAP
- C:\WC30\WCWORK\NODE1\
- ACCESS DENIED!
- TRACY MCCLARNON
- 19200
- C:\WC30\BULL\BULL23.SCR
- C:\WC30\BULL\BULL23.BBS

-
- ONLINE SWAP MEET can be run locally without a door data file (handy
- for the sysop to use the door without logging on to the BBS) by
- specifying /L after the configuration file parameter in the DOS
- command line. Like this:
-
- OSM OSM.CFG /L
-
- ONLINE SWAP MEET's /L will request you to enter your name before
- it will run the door.
-
- Nonstandard IRQs can be used with ONLINE SWAP MEET by specifying the
- IRQ number after the "config" parameter in the command line used to
- run the door as follows:
-
- OSM OSM.CFG irq
-
-
-
- SPECIAL KEYS
- 4
- ------------
-
- While OSM is running, the sysop can press certain special keys to
- perform a variety of functions. The following is a list of the
- functions that the special keys perform:
-
- Key(s) Function
-
- HOME Toggles between the user status window and a help
- display that lists OSM'S special keys.
-
- F6 Takes 5 minutes away from the caller.
- NOTE: This will NOT be returned to BBS.
-
- F7 Gives 5 minutes to the caller.
- NOTE: This will NOT be returned to the BBS.
-
- F9 Quit the door and return the caller to the BBS.
-
- F10 Enter chat mode. Pressing the ESC key exits the
- chat mode.
-
- Alt+D Drop to DOS.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- MAINTENANCE
- 5
- -----------
-
-
- A nightly maintenance program called OSMNIGHT.EXE MUST be run every
- night at about 12:00 MIDNIGHT...
-
- Just add or make a nightly batch file that has these two lines:
-
- CD C:\THE OSM DIRECTORY
-
- OSMNIGHT.EXE
-
-
- Thats it! Its needed to keep track of the amount of days left for
- each item - without it, the users items never get deleted!
-
-
-
-
- BULLETIN CREATION
- 6
- -----------------
-
-
- Yes, OSM does have a bulletin creator! To create them, make sure you
- gave the correct path and filename to the two bulletins in the
- OSM.CFG file. Then all you have to do is add OSMBULL to your batch
- file after the line that executes ONLINE SWAP MEET! If you don't
- want bulletins then make sure that a 0 is placed into lines 6 and 7 of
- the OSM.CFG file!
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
- 7
- ---------------------
-
-
- Q: How do you make the COLOR AND B/W Bulletins?
-
- A: Make sure you specify the PATH AND FILENAME of your bulletins
- in OSM.CFG. Then add the line OSMBULL to your batch file after
- you execute OSM with OSM OSM.CFG!
-
-
- Q: What do I have to do for maintenance?
-
- A: Add a command line in your nightly batch file that changes to
- your OSM DIRECTORY and another command line that executes
- OSMNIGHT.
-
-
- Q: The Bulletin Creator doesn't make a bulletin - It just writes the
- bulletins to the screen. What am I doing wrong?
-
- A: Make sure you specified the FULL PATH AND FILENAME to your bulletins
- in OSM.CFG! If it can't find'em it prints them out to your screen.
-
-
- Q: I get a RUNTIME ERROR when I try to list something from the LIST
- MENU! Whats wrong?
-
- A: Make sure you run OSMCFG.EXE before using ONLINE SWAP MEET! If you
- did, try running it again. It could also be that you moved the
- .DAT files to another location. When you do this all the .DAT files
- that are 0 bytes in size are not moved and then the program tries to
- open them for processing when you LIST something. Just run OSMCFG
- whenever you move or lose a .DAT file!
-
-
- Q: Some of my screens are blank with a prompt at the bottom. Whats
- going on?
-
- A: Somehow, somewhere, you erased or moved a .ANS or .ASC out of your
- OSM directory...Get a new OSM package and replace the old screens with
- the new ones.
-
-
- Q: I get a statement saying that my CONFIGURATION FILE is not specified.
- Whats this?
-
- A: Make sure you have the line OSM OSM.CFG in your batch file to start
- the program!
-
-
- Q: Can I change the .ANS and .ASC screens?
-
- A: I WOULDN'T! Most of the screens that are .ANS and .ASC have been
- left out of the OSM.EXE to save room. I use extensive GOTOXY's on
- these display files. It would take 50 pages to describe all the
- requirements for all the screens. If you decide to change them
- anyway, GOOD LUCK! I offer no further assistance in this matter...
-
-
-
-
- REGISTRATION

- The ONLINE SWAP MEET registration is ONLY $20! When you register OSM
- it also entitles you to FREE minor updates and $5 MAJOR UPDATES! See
